Abstract

The professionalism of dental health workers depends on the quality of their academic learning, among other aspects. In this regard, it should be taken into consideration, on one side, the competencies of teachers, including their continuing education, and furthermore, the university education programs, oriented to the student training. Although certain more traditional patterns of dental instruction persist, the emergence of new trends is becoming more relevant. Indeed, as a result of a European convergence strategy for university training consolidated in the Bologna Process and in the European Higher Education Area, curricula for undergraduate dental students evolve in order to promote technological knowledge, both, in the dental field itself, and in teaching área. By way of example, the use of “Virtual Classroom or Campus” in the university environment is noteworthy. Therefore, this chapter will present a review of the teaching schedules of different Spanish dental universities, highlighting those of the last courses. The competencies of the dental teaching staff will also be addressed. Likewise, technological innovation aimed at achieving greater professionalism will also be raised.
