Zusammenfassung

The carmen epigraphicum studied here is a curious sample of a medieval inscription. On the one hand, it is a beautiful example of how much the medieval scriptoria took care of the external aspects in order to multiply the advertising effect of the message. On the other hand, it represents a magnificent witness to the influence of Visigothic culture in the Kingdom of León as well as the survival of Greco-Latin tradition. Given its current state of disrepair, it is also an example of textual recovery by two extremely different ways: the high medieval manuscripts and the historiographical sources of the 18th and 19th centuries.
