Abstract

In the city of Madrid, there are a large number of group social intervention programs aimed to promote participation of adolescents and young people considered at risk of social exclusion. However, there is no consensus on the definition, meaning and scope of the term participation. What is more, youth have little presence in social work research and the planning and evaluation of the programs of which they are part.The characteristics of social interventions are the result of the conjunction of the social representations of youth and the different meanings of participation.
