Estrategias para regular la tristezadiferencias entre una muestra clínica y una muestra control en el inventario de afrontamiento de la depresión (CID)

Resumen

El objetivo de este estudio fue investigar las diferencias entre una muestra clínica y una muestra control en las estrategias de afrontamiento ante la tristeza mediante el empleo del Inventario de Afrontamiento de la Depresión (Coping Inventory of Depresión, CID). La muestra total fue constituida por 491 estudiantes y 57 pacientes con diagnósticos heterogéneos. En comparación con la muestra control, los pacientes manifestaron emplear menos estrategias de afrontamiento y percibir una menor eficacia de las mismas. Asimismo, la muestra clínica mostró un menor uso de la reevaluación cognitiva, y un mayor empleo de medicación y expertos, así como una mayor búsqueda de apoyo social y de expresión emocional ante determinados síntomas depresivos y más estrategias de supresión cognitiva (ignorar) frente a sentimientos de ira o enfado. Además, comer para afrontar la tristeza estaba asociado en los pacientes con la búsqueda cognitiva de soluciones mientras que el uso de alcohol y otras drogas se asociaba con la falta de expresión emocional. Se analizan las implicaciones de los resultados para la optimización de intervenciones psicoterapéuticas.
