Abstract

Headache is one of the most common disorders of the central nervous system that affects 1 in 10 people worldwide, and having a higher prevalence in females. It is one of the most frequent reasons for consultation in Primary Care and, although it is not considered a serious disease itself, it is important to pay attention to it since it can bethe cause by other types of more serious pathologies. Headaches are not considered to be a serious illness by the general population because they usually are not fatal, and are not contagious. Low consultation rates in developed countries may indicate that many patients are ignore the availability of an effective treatment; it is estimated that half of people suffering from headaches self-treat.
