Abstract

During the years of the reign of Juan I of Castile (1379-1390), the degree of intervention of the king in ecclesiastical matters and clergy participation in matters of the Crown increased. This study focuses on the roles played by the Castilian prelates in conflicts of Castile, which are materialized through various channels: political, diplomatic, economic and military. Similarly, there was an increase in the spatial field where strifes happened and a loss of figtht importance against the Kingdom of Granada, for the conquest of the Portuguese kingdom. Finally, we analyse the consequences on the dioceses, tensions, riots and wars which engulfed Castile.
