Résumé

A sedimentological and palynological study has been carried out in Lower to mid-Cretaceous outcropping clastic units from the Serranía de Cuenca, Iberian Ranges, Spain. The study area has been divided into three sectors: Mina Pepita-Buenache de la Sierra (MPB), La Toba-Uña (TU) and Campillos-Tejadillos (CT). The three Aptian-lower Cenomanian clastic units described for the South-western Iberian Basin (Vilas et al., 1982) have been identified in the Serranía de Cuenca: i) Mina Pepita outcrop (MPB Sector) corresponds to the lower Aptian unit, Contreras Formation, ii) Buenache de la Sierra outcrop (MPB Sector) has been attributed to the upper Aptian unit, El Burgal Member (the second clastic unit), and iii) the succes- sions studied in TU and CT sectors show a middle Albian to early Cenomanian age, and are assigned to the Utrillas Group (third clastic unit). Likewise, this study aims to provide new insights on the subtleties of the Albian to early Cenomanian transgression in the Serranía de Cuenca region (Chamizo-Borreguero et al., 2016).
