Abstract

Objective: Our aim was too analyze the influence of the triage level assigned by the Manchester Triage System on the probability of ad-mission in patients with reasons for consultation Dyspnea, Abdominal Pain and Problems in Extremities. Method: Retrospective observa-tional study of patients atended at the Emergency Department. Results: The assigned triage level is related to a higher probability of admission in the case of orange levels in Abdominal Pain, and red in Dyspnea (p <0.05). In patients with Problems in Extremities, the level of triage assigned does not influence the probability of admission, considering age and sex as covariates. Age is a significant predictor of admission in patients with all three reasons for admission (p <0.001). Conclusions: The assigned triage level is differentially associated with the probability of admission according to the reason for the patient's consultation.
