Abstract

In spite of the advances made in the development of mitigation tools, and early warning systems, emergencies caused by geohazards, such as landslides or floods, generate a strong social impact and cause significant economic losses throughout international framework. The increase concentration of people in urban areas, is increasing the damages and precursor stages. In this sense, currently there has been a significant change in relation to the traditional management of risk, going from being subject to specialized entities being assumed by the whole society. Society demands more information that answers the questions of how, when and why these processes occur, and require efficient answers to protect them against them. As the relationships between the different actors involved are solid, it will determine how effective the response can be given to these risks. This work shows how the interaction between Civil Protection and Geological Services at different countries in Europe is, regarding to geohazards prevention activities. For this purpose, a questionnaire has been designed, to describe what the current collaboration in geohazard prevention activities is and how this relationship could be strengthened to increase in the future.
