Resum
Introduction: appropriate and prompt management of traumatic injury lesions is essential for achieving better outcome results. With this in mind, the International Association of Dental Trauma- tology (IADT) developed a series of recommendations that have seen different modifications over the years in order to create a protocol that increases the success rate in the treatment of these pathologies. Objective: to identify the modifications and developments in the IADT protocols, by comparing the recommendation in the cur- rent 2020 guidelines with those of previous protocols. Results: modifications can be observed with regard to the ter- minology, the diagnosis-therapeutic guidelines, and to follow-up monitoring. In addition to variations in factors such as antibiotic prophylaxis and splinting among others. Conclusions: there has been a tendency to simplify the IADT protocols with the aim of performing better differentiation of the cir- cumstances and making the treatment choice easier, while increasing the probability of success in each case. Therefore, it should be high- lighted that in comparison with other guides, the 2020 ono is based on evidence in the literature and that, as a result, a follow-up that is backed by scientific evidence is therefore considered necessary
