Abstract

Migratory movements have increased significantly in recent years across the globe. Spain continues to be an attractive destination for the migration of people from all over the world. The presence of these individuals implies an interaction with the local population, modifying social, cultural and political dynamics. Currently, this population group corresponds to 11% of the inhabitants of Spain. Reason enough to attract the attention of the media, citizens and political actors.Based on the communication theories: Framing and Agenda-setting, the way in which news about immigration is presented and its frequency is analyzed. These two components influence the way audiences perceive this reality. Based on this background, the following study objectives of this doctoral thesis are proposed: 1) to analyze what is framing and agenda-setting through content analysis and 2) to study the effect that these news have on young Spaniards...
