Abstract

Pelvic cancer surgery is the treatment of choice for localized prostate and bladder tumors. Prostate cancer is the most common solid tumor in men and bladder cancer is the fifth most common tumor in developed countries. Both radical prostatectomy (RP) and radical cystectomy (RC) are interventions that associate a non-negligible perioperative morbidity and mortality, so the standardization of the process could help reduce serious complications and mortality. In Spain, there is no recommendation or regulation for the qualification of centers that should perform these interventions, nor do we have a Spanish population-based study on the morbidity and mortality of these surgical procedures...
