The procedure of liver transplantation is associated with high risk of perioperative complications including mortality influenced by intraoperative events which remain to be clarified. The troponin is an easily accessible cardiac biomarker which can be precisely quantified by new high-sensitivity assays. High levels of serum troponin are associated with higher short-term mortality. However, in the surgical context, the relationship between intraoperative troponin levels and the clinical and hemodynamic parameters, as well as post-transplant survival is unknown...
