Zusammenfassung
This chapter is devoted to the origins of relativistic astrophysics, both from the theoretical and observational point of view. Supernova explosions, pulsars, active galactic nuclei and gamma-ray bursts are some of the observed processes that are the object of this discipline. On the other hand, the intriguing features of black holes, singularities and hypotheses like the no-hair conjecture and cosmic censorship have been discussed for decades. Perturbative and numerical approaches are mandatory to tackle most of these issues.
