Resumen

The Landes Plateau (Eastern sector of the north Iberian margin) is a structural high originated by the Bay of Biscay opening during Mesozoic times, and the subsequent partial tectonic inversion during Cenozoic times. This marginal shelf comprises the westernmost edge of the Late Jurassic – Cretaceous Parentis basin, where interplay between basement tectonics and salt tectonics is reported (Ferrer et al., 2012). In spite of the studies developed in this region in the past (see Ferrer et al., 2012 and references therein), the deep structure of the Landes Plateau basement is not well defined, and there is some controversy regarding the thickness of the sediments constituting this sector of the Parentis basin. This work addresses the deep structure modelling of the region, comprising: information from multichannel reflection seismic profiles, registered during the 80’s decade and available at the Geophysical Information System of the Spanish Geological Survey (SIGEOF, http://info.igme. es/SIGEOF/); the estimation of a starting basement top surface, from magnetic anomaly data (Getech, 2011), using the Tilt Depth method (Salem et al., 2007); and satellite altimetry derived gravity data 3D inversion.
