Abstract
Every approach to past societies and, in our case, to the Greek society through its clothing, is always partial. However, the study of fashion and its evolution provides an interesting amount of meaningful data on the historical past, as the way of dressing has always been a status marker and also a distinctive feature of ideological and cultural idiosyncrasies. In the following lines we will offer a general overview of the most significant aspects of fashion and its evolution in the Greek World, based on literary and iconographic sources, whose information is certainly of great value.
