Resum
The present artic/e describes the electromyographic behavoir of the orofacial muse/es during mandibular mouvements. Most of the reviewed authors conclude that aperture mouvements are produced by the lateral pterigois muse/e and suprahyoideus muscle. Closure mouvements are made by the action of tempora/is muse/e, masseter muse/e and meda/ pteridoid muse/e. Mastication mouvements are mainly produced by the masseter muse/e in adult people and by tempora/ís muse/e in young people. Laterality mouvements inc/ude the ipsilatera/ temporalis muse/e as we/I as the contralateral meda/ pterigoid muse/e. Protusive mouvement is made by the lateral pterigoid muse/e. Final/y, e/ectromyographic behavoir of the orofacial muse/es during mandibular rest, maximum intercuspidation and deglutition are described.
