Abstract

The paper shows the design and the first data, collected between June and September, of a doctoral thesis. The study aims to evaluate the use of the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) to support the development of the "Walking in family" socio-educative program. This is a parenting skills program for foster care and family reunification, which aims to support families under separation provisional measures. Participants are 80 professionals of different communities in Spain and Portugal who realize a training course, intervene with families and are involved in the program evaluation. The study is part of the research project "Family reunification as a challenge in child welfare system". It is carried out quantitative and qualitative technics and strategies: questionnaires and discussion groups. As first results and conclusions, it is detected the predisposition, the experience and the previous knowledge of professionals with the use of a virtual environment and other ICT resources.
