Résumé

This paper deals with the topic of Tartessos and its possible location in Carteia, in the Bay of Algeciras. Spanish Archaeology has been traditionally interested in this issue being the literary sources so confusing about the location of this mythical city. For that reason, the American Bryant Foundation became interested in dig in Carteia in 1965 with the collaboration of some Spanish archaeologists as C. Fernández-Chicarro of the Archaeological Museum in Seville. The researches undertaken then concluded that Carteia was definitively not the location of Tartessos. Recently, some information has been collected that corroborate the true interest in finding Tartessos in Carteia by the Bryant Foundation. Some of these documents could also afford us to conclude original readings about the city of Carteia.
