Zusammenfassung

Counsellors are a fundamental element in the government of a kingdom, because, due to their position, they have privileged access to the person and activities of the king. From this figure, similarities and differences can be established with the further development of the favorites system. In this type of political and personal relationship, the Aristotelian concept of friendship –referred to in the sapiential texts and in princes' mirrors– is essential. For this reason, and in order to provide more information to the research on the figure of the privado and its evolution, the author proposes to observe the factors that define this system on the basis of two characters from the Crown of Castile: Leonor López de Córdoba (1362/1363-1420) and Álvaro de Luna (1390 ?-1453). The author analyses the ideals present in their own works and, as far as possible, also in the more or less contemporary works that refer to their figures.
