Zusammenfassung
This paper begins by stressing the importance of the Inter-American Demo-cratic Charter within the Organization of the American States (OAS), by exter-nalizing the link between human rights and the democratic values to which the countries of the Americas aspire, as well as the way in which the Inter-American Court of Human Rights has considered this instrument as a norm of authentic in-terpretation of treaties. The most relevant case law of the Inter-American Court on the subject is analyzed to notice this link from its genesis in the advisory opin-ions and particularly through its contentious jurisdiction in five major topics, as well as in provisional measures and in monitoring compliance with judgments
