Résumé

Candida auris is a global emerging pathogen that is causing puzzlingly and simultaneously exponential human infection episodes. This fungal species exhibits features like high virulence, raise spread, elevated resistance to treatment and considerable environmental persistence capacity. Undoubtedly these significant proprieties and misidentification by conventional laboratory identification systems has complicated clinical management, resulting in elevated mortality rates. It is clear that a scientific-clinic robust response, involving the establishment of rapid and reliable diagnostics, the development of new antifungal medicines, the protocolization of rapid interventions and the implementation of prevention and control systems, are paramount to reducing the infections spread by this fungal species. In this article we present a brief overview that tries to high light some of the important aspects of this remarkable species, which behaves like a global emerging pathogen.
