Nowadays, the uniformity has become an interesting selection objective in breeding programs. The uniformity is related with robustness which produce an improvement in animal functionality maintaining a high production level. The variability of piglets within litter has a direct impact in survival and animal welfare. The objective of this study is to analyse the possibility to select for piglet birth weigth uniformity. A total of 243 litters belonging to nulliparous sows from Sánchez Romero Carvajal population were used with a total of birth weigth of 1.544 piglets. The results of the analysis indicated that a reduction of 16% in the present birth weigth variability could be achieved without negatively modifying the birth weight neither litter size.
