Abstract
IntheHighMiddleAges,theinfluenceofAristotlewasalreadyconsiderable,butitwaspracticallylimitedtocommentariesonCategories.Ontheotherhand,MetaphysicswasknowninChristianEuropelate,anditisonlyatthebeginningoftheXIIIcenturywhenitwillbecompletelyaccessibletotheLatinworld.ThereceptionofAristotlebytheLatinstakesplacethroughtranslations,commentaries,paraphrases,shortwritingsondifferenttopicsandcontributionsinencyclopedictreatises.Generally,medievalcommentariesonAristotle,andespeciallyonMetaphysics,aredividedintotwogroups:literalexpositionsandcommentariespermodumquaestionis.Bothmethodswereemployedinthecenturyfrom1250to1350,whenMetaphysicsbecamethecenterofcontroversyamongEuropeantheologians
