Abstract

Based on a selection of press headlines and digital presentations of pension plans from the Spanish banks that invest the most in advertising, this article examines our conceptualization of aging through image-schemas and the conceptual metaphor theory. Using the analytical tools of cognitive semiotics, this article identifies and explores the conceptual structural scaffolding of the target domains aging and retirement as structurings of primary and secondary emotions in a narrative of distress.
