Good biosecurity measures are important to prevent the entrance of transmissiblediseases into farms. To our knowledge, in Spain there are no previous studies on biosecuritymeasures in sheep and goat farms. The objective of this study was to identify the mainbiosecurity measures applied in Spanish small ruminant farms and investigate differencesassociated with some relevant factors such as farm size, years of the farm in business, flocktype, production and productive system. The survey was carried by means of a questionnaireto veterinarians. According to our results, biosecurity in sheep and goat farms needs tobe improved and the farm size is an important factor (the bigger are the farms, more biosecurity measures are applied). This is the first study on biosecurity in Spanish smallruminant farms and it could be the starting point for future researches.
