Resum

In a recent work was reported that placing an obstacle in front of a gate has a beneficialeffect in the flow of sheep through it, the obstacle reduces the time lapse between thepassage of consecutive animals and the number of clogs. This communication progresses in these results, studying the influence of the location ofthe obstacle with respect to the entrance door. For this purpose a 114 cm diameter cylinderwas put as an obstacle in front of the door. It was set 60cm, 80cm or 100cm far from theentrance door, which had 96 cm in width and three lots of 80-90 sheep were prepared forthe experiment. These groups of animals were managed 20 days without obstacles and 20days with it and the movement of the animals was recorded by two cameras installed in theupper part of the door. After studying the recordings it was concluded that obstacles located on 80 and 100cm improved the flow, while the obstacle located 60 cm deteriorated the flow because itgenerated clogs between the door and the obstacle.
