After researching all theory related with low academic performance in Spain, the empiric investigation proposed, immersed in a wider study, tries to find those factors that influence low academic performance. The study interest is to define the student profiles in function of some variables that could discriminate between those students with low academic performance and those with sufficient academic performance. For data treatment a cluster analysis was carried out. From the results a main conclusion is extracted: most of the variables that permit discrimination between profiles can be modified in formal education.
