Abstract
The article argues that Ortega was a regionalist author and that it was not merely a reaction to against peripheral nationalism. On the contrary, he was the successor or the liberal tradition embodied by Gumersindo de Azcárate and supporter of the region as an undisputed geographical and historical fact. Moreover, it argued that the philosophy he developed since 1914 led him to this conclusion, because it prompted him to look for the origins of the Spanish "circumstance" through the study of its objective characteristics.
