Résumé

The mineralogical study from eight stratigraphic columns in central facies at Duero Basin (Province of Valladolid) have been done. The main objective was the "Cuesta” facies wich is characterized by marly and dolomitic material with clay levels and in some areas evaporites. The content of fibrous clay minerals is important, reaching in some areas 30% of sepiolite and 75% of paligorskite. The mineralogical assemblage and clay content and composition are characteristic of basic lacustrine basins in wich Mg chemical activity play an essential role.
