Zusammenfassung

We analyzed the studbook of the “ibicenco” rabbit breed to study its genetic structure. The generation length was eight months. The average number of equivalent complete generations was 1.8 with a mean inbreeding coefficient of 8% and a mean average relatedness coefficient of 18.8%, showing shallow pedigree and high level of inbreeding. The effective population size, the effective number of founders and ancestors, and the founder genome equivalent turned out to be 6, a stable number from the foundation that reveals the need to increase the population census.
