Abstract
On October 11, 1968, the Plaza de la Luna archeological site hosted a dance performance mixing the ancient Greek culture, the pre-Hispanic tradition of the New Fire and the modern Olympism in the context of the Mexican Olympic Games. This paper analyzes the aesthetics and history of the event and its filmic adaptation. Through primary sources and an interview with the main dancer Cora Flores we conclude its repercussion and contributions in the subsequent Olympic editions.
