Résumé

The inventory of the most valuable occurrences of geodiversity in an area and the quantitative analysis of the data obtained, are essential steps in any geoconservation strategy and in the establishment of priorities for its administration. With this aim, and in development of Law 9/1999 of Nature Conservation of Castilla-La Mancha region (central Spain), during the last two years geoscientists of various institutions leaded by the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME) have developed a project aiming a new inventory of geological sites, named Castilla-La Mancha Catalogue of Geological and Geomorphological Special Protection Elements (CEGGPE). This communication describes the first results obtained from the study of the 1,394 geosites identified, analysing, among other factors, spatial distribution and size frequency.
