This paper presents the study and critical edition of a late and particular 'body and soul debate' written by Don Pedro Mudarra de Avellaneda, born in San Martín de Valdeiglesias. The author, who was the preceptor of Don Felipe Baltasar Fernández Pacheco, 6th Duke of Escalona, perceives his work as if it was a chapter of a specula principum literature, following the example of the Belgian humanist Justus Lipsius.
