The gradual surge in the number of transplantations and the advance in the immunosuppressive therapy have led to on increase in the transplant patients survival rate; the 5-year survival rate has raoched 80-85%. Bacterial sepsis is still the second cause of mortality. lnfection prevalence in these patients is much higher than in the general population, due to the immunosuppression than they undergo in order to avoid graft rejection.
