Resumen

This research was inspired by a dual interest, constituted by the extraordinary potential of Augmented Reality for Art History and by the fascinating cross-cultural history of a unique cultural heritage site, the Alhambra. These interests were developed and cultivated in parallel through a series of conferences and courses focused on the theoretical framework of Digital Humanities, the characteristics and interpretations of Nasrid art, the practical methodologies of Digital Art History, and the centuries-long fascination that artists had for the emblem of Granada. Moreover, thanks to a three-month-long mobility program at the Human Interface Technology Lab New Zealand (HIT Lab NZ), part of the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, it was possible to obtain practical experience in modeling a digital reconstruction based on historical documents while cooperating with a team whose objective was to create a Virtual Reality game dedicated to the history of Fonthill Abbey. These experiences have led to the acquisition of a varied skillset and the ideation of the project proposed in this thesis.
