Resum

In this article we deal with some of the urban spaces in transformation of the municipality of Madrid. This action is deployed in a surface in the neighborhood known as Imperial, in the Madrid district of Arganzuela, under the name “New Mahou-Calderón”, within the framework of the Madrid-Río Project, the burial of the so-called “first great ring road” was started up, which, meandered on the banks of the Manzanares River as it passed through the city of Madrid. Said burial did not affect, however, the space occupied by the Vicente Calderón football stadium, where the close link between the river and the city continued to be a constant until recent times –in which its demolition and transformation is taking place-. In said “Madrid-Río” Project, the fundamentals of reconversion of sports and industrial uses were marked, in the new urban scene generated by the demolition of the beer factory, and by that of the football stadium (“New Mahou-Calderón” Project).
