Abstract
The methodology of systematic review (SR) and metanalysis is the most robust forpooling the available evidence on the accuracy of a diagnostic test and obtaining an overall estimate of its sensitivity and specificity. The analysis of the heterogeneity in Diagnostic Test Accuracy Reviews (DTA) is the goal of this thesis. The objectives are: i. to evaluate the methods used to quantify heterogeneity in Cochrane DTA reviews; ii. To propose alternative measures to quantify heterogeneity; iii.To develop a web application to summarise diagnostic test accuracy results; iv.
