Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the configuration of individual identity in relation to collective identities. I postulate that in order to understand both, the concept of recognition must be kept in mind. I consider that in the struggle for recognition and in the face of contempt, we find crucial motivations for the action of individuals and groups. I elaborated a theoretical presentation of the concept as well as a definition of it. I establish as my field of work that of social philosophy and I believe that, within it, the theory of ideology has been very useful to account for that moral grammar on which the possibility of individual and collective action is sustained, on the basis of the theory of recognition.I use Axel Honneth's theoretical construction in his attempt to construct a moral grammar of social conflicts on the basis of recognition, contrasting it with the social analysis he carries out through the articulation of the concept of freedom.
