Abstract

The objective of this investigation is to review the importance of the topic of pleasure on Foucault’s books, lectures, conferences, and interviews. Even though there is no text that makes pleasure the main object of analysis, it seems to have a growing significant role in Foucault’s critic, when his work turns into an analitic of power. Is in The will to knowledge where the relevance of the topic of pleasure appear to us. This is why we start our investigation reviewing the framework of this fist volume of The history of sexuality, which soon will take a different analitic course, now framed by the model of governmentality. This review will take us to consider a drift in foucauldian’s thought, which goes from the subject of power to the subject of government. And we will do so by following the tracks of this drift, emphasizing the way our topic (pleasure) is presented in different moments of The history of sexuality’s reformulation. We will see that pleasures have a particular relevance in our current political situation...
