Abstract

At present, the characteristics and social phenomena of socio-culturally diverse and plural societies prevent on many occasions a true coexistence, generating processes of social injustice. This demands a humanistic education based on prosocial and civic values that allow the generation of an inclusive and democratic culture, respectful of human differences. School as a heterogeneous socio-cultural context presents itself as a great opportunity to educate young children from their early childhood as active and responsible citizens. Context, social play as a cultural phenomenon, and shared experiences among peers could present a great potential to initiate processes of school innovation from listening to children’s voices.
