This thesis answers the question of how much and in what way Japanese beliefs influence manga, anime and video games, three of the most important expressions of popular culture in Japan today. To this end, an exhaustive analysis is made of the available objects of study, i.e. the different manga, anime and video games whose plot or theme revolves around the influence of beliefs present in Japan.This demonstrates the influence of these beliefs on Japanese popular culture, and the fact that these Japanese beliefs use these entertainment media as a new vehicle for their transmission, dissemination and evolution.
