Resumen

The Data Protection and Digital Information Bill (DPDIB) is not stricto sensu a mere data protection reform. In line with other European domestic laws, it also incorporates other rules intended to regulate the digitalization of certain online environments. In doing so, the DPDIB introduces a new regime to promote the use of digital information, by avoiding the reliance on anachronic physical documents. Therefore, in this context, on the one hand, it establishes a legal framework for digital verification services, and, on the other hand, it also embraces the digitization of the Registers of births and deaths. Moreover, following the lead of its previous European partners, it sets the foundations for the development of a smart data sharing regime, which comprises not only personal data, but also commercial data. This regime would enable data exchange between the public and private sector under certain conditions.
