Birds have aroused curiosity and admiration in humans throughout the ages. Some species have also been subject to productive or ornamental use. From the observation of the singular behaviors of these animals, the human being has gathered data aboutvegetable elements, minerals or simply behaviors with which he thought they could cure diseases. This communication presents a compilation of these references investigated in diverse sources. The study is part of a line of research that deals with the historicalstudy of animal self-healing or zoopharmacognosy.
