Una nueva pintura de Claudio CoelloEl Ángel de la Guarda: identificación, restauración y estudio de las técnicas pictóricas en la corte madrileña de fines del siglo XVII

Resumen

The aim of the publication is to disseminate the recent identification of this work of great quality as an original by Claudio Coello, thanks to the research made by the historian Ángel Aterido, and its subsequent restoration carried out at the Spanish Cultural Heritage Institute following the criterion of minimal intervention in the support treatment, dismantling only the lower part, with satisfactory results. Another interesting aspect has been the cleaning of the protean coating of this work, something unusual in easel painting, which has led to an interesting study carried out by recreating in a model the materials and techniques of the Madrid school of 17th-century, for its subsequent accelerated ageing and investigation of its effects, carrying out tests to determine the most suitable system for cleaning the protean coating.
