Abstract

Last March, 20th Nandita Quaderi, editor-in-chief of the Web of Science (WoS) anounced that more than 50 journals had been de-listed from the WoS (and, in some cases, they would have lost their impact factor JCR). Usually journals are removed because of citation patters outside of a normal range, as an unusually high number of self-citations or citation stacking which makes them increase their impact factor. This shows one more time that impact factor is not synonimous of quality or reliability in the information provided. But it also states also some relevant questions, overall considering that publications in factor impact journals is more valuated in many cases.
