Abstract

The primary and fundamental objective of this thesis is to demonstrate that if we use Emotional Intelligence when we attend to the user in a library (as professional librarians), this attention will be notably optimized, so that the needs of the user who asks for help will be attended to more efficiently and more quickly. In this work we try to prove, through the study of previous works, that when a library professional ventures to try to solve the informative needs -or any kind of needs- of the applicant in the library and with Emotional Intelligence, the results will be better: qualitatively and quantitatively. And how will this be done? Well, it is also something that we try to break down in this research work. How to use Emotional Intelligence in libraries to improve the work in the attention to the user / client? Mainly, the methodology of the work is based on surveys and interviews with users, librarians and psychologists, establishing percentages of crucial issues in the subject of this thesis. Who better than a librarian or a library user, and also, although from a different prism, a psychologist/psychiatrist, to attest to the answers we are looking for...
