To improve the antibiotic management is essential to understand the factors involved in the initiation of these treatments and their maintenance when there is no evidence of infection; as well as to have objective tools to guide antimicrobial use.The primary objective of this study is to determine factors involved in the initiation of the antibiotic treatment and its prolongation in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of a tertiary hospital. The secondary objectives are: to determine predictor variables of bacterial and nosocomial infection, to describe the infectious pathology, to investigate the accuracy of infection biomarkers for the diagnosis of bacterial infection and sepsis, and to calculate the optimal cut-point to predict infection...
