Abstract

Alfonso X (1221-1284), King of Castile and Leon, devoted part of his life and court resources to book culture. The Alphonsine scriptorium was a gathering point for codex workers and craftsmen from different cultures, where some of the most important works of the 13th century in the fields of History, Law, Science and Culture, including Music, were produced. The study of these manuscripts by professionals in different fields has yielded valuable information about the process of collection of information, formal creation regarding its writing, decoration and illumination, and the subsequent revisions.
