Resumo

The crisis in Crimea and Ukraine is the milestone that triggered a situation between Russia and the West that becomes so complicated that begins to spread the idea of being in the framework of a New Cold War. Although the current situation is the result of a series of misunderstandings and disputes occurred over several years, there are enough common points, shared interests –and threats- to conclude that there is more that unites than divides, making it possible to redirect the crisis under the premise of a type negotiation «win-win». Consequently, although the time runs against everybody, we are not in a New Cold War. And to show how it is possible to reach agreements on more complex situations, an analysis of the Missile Crisis of Cuba is done, analysis that also highlights the extreme risk that can be generated if we continue with the rhetoric and escalation of the current crisis.
